00:00:00.236 --> 00:00:01.566 A:middle
>> My name is Meghan Reed.

00:00:01.566 --> 00:00:04.206 A:middle
I work for the Greater Lehigh
Valley Chamber of Commerce.

00:00:04.656 --> 00:00:08.246 A:middle
I am the Emmaus Main Street
Manager and the Assistant VP

00:00:08.246 --> 00:00:10.346 A:middle
for East Penn and Western Lehigh Chambers.

00:00:10.746 --> 00:00:12.346 A:middle
We get to be feet on the streets.

00:00:12.766 --> 00:00:23.496 A:middle
We get to help promote our downtown and try to
revitalize, support and really drive traffic

00:00:23.496 --> 00:00:29.836 A:middle
into our local economy through events whether
that be festivals or networking events

00:00:29.836 --> 00:00:36.356 A:middle
or even just you know using social media and our
website as a way to reach out to the community

00:00:36.356 --> 00:00:39.666 A:middle
and bring visitors and residents
alike into the downtown district.

00:00:39.936 --> 00:00:44.346 A:middle
So I do a lot of different types of
relationship-building throughout the day,

00:00:44.346 --> 00:00:47.076 A:middle
whether it be phone calls or meetings.

00:00:47.156 --> 00:00:52.696 A:middle
We're a membership-based organization as well,
so I'll meet with various potential members

00:00:52.696 --> 00:00:56.586 A:middle
and help them to understand what our
organization does and what we can do for them.

00:00:57.706 --> 00:00:59.776 A:middle
The very beginning of someone
even thinking "Hey,

00:00:59.776 --> 00:01:03.516 A:middle
I'd like to come into your community"
setting them up with knowing the right people

00:01:03.516 --> 00:01:06.696 A:middle
within boroughs and townships
so they understand,

00:01:07.436 --> 00:01:13.656 A:middle
even places that are potential
locations, understanding zoning

00:01:13.656 --> 00:01:15.606 A:middle
and regulations and things of that nature.

00:01:16.936 --> 00:01:20.296 A:middle
And you know if it's a business that's
already you know open and established,

00:01:20.296 --> 00:01:24.896 A:middle
you know helping them with maybe a
ribbon-cutting or you know walking them

00:01:24.896 --> 00:01:30.146 A:middle
through steps and tips on how do you
make a successful social media page.

00:01:30.516 --> 00:01:36.206 A:middle
We can also help them with job searches
as far as hiring candidates and helping

00:01:36.206 --> 00:01:39.856 A:middle
to train their workforce through the
Lehigh Valley Workforce Development Board,

00:01:39.856 --> 00:01:41.306 A:middle
we have a relationship with them as well.

00:01:41.306 --> 00:01:44.916 A:middle
So there's a ton of different ways that someone

00:01:44.916 --> 00:01:47.536 A:middle
like myself can go in and
say "Let's get creative.

00:01:47.986 --> 00:01:52.326 A:middle
What is it that you need and how can I connect
you with the appropriate people and channels?"

00:01:52.996 --> 00:02:00.716 A:middle
You're that kind of that point person to bring
people together, whether it be you know ideas

00:02:00.776 --> 00:02:06.026 A:middle
to create a new event or a new business
comes into town and you want to share

00:02:06.216 --> 00:02:07.976 A:middle
that with people from the region.
