WEBVTT

00:00:00.230 --> 00:00:01.380
My name is Herb Sweeney.

00:00:01.380 --> 00:00:09.290
I am a graduate from Landscape Architecture
Program from 2003, and I am a senior associate

00:00:09.290 --> 00:00:13.380
at Landscape Architecture of
Michael Van Valkenburg Associates

00:00:13.380 --> 00:00:16.410
in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

00:00:16.410 --> 00:00:25.620
I think my simple explanation of landscape
architect is it's everything beyond the walls

00:00:25.620 --> 00:00:27.060
of architecture.

00:00:27.060 --> 00:00:34.140
So, from park spaces to street scapes,
urban conditions, the campuses.

00:00:34.140 --> 00:00:41.880
A typical busy day, it all depends on what
stage of the project that I working on we're at.

00:00:41.880 --> 00:00:47.580
Currently my typical day or I guess,
weeks, are composed of a lot of travel.

00:00:47.580 --> 00:00:52.920
My project currently I'm working on is
in Texas, so I'll spend upwards of three

00:00:52.920 --> 00:00:55.490
to four days a week out at the project site.

00:00:55.490 --> 00:01:01.140
I'm working with landscape contractors,
working whole various different trades

00:01:01.140 --> 00:01:03.580
in construction as they're building the project.

00:01:03.580 --> 00:01:10.080
But on stages where we're in design
phases, it's more in the office working

00:01:10.080 --> 00:01:16.210
with consultants trying to coordinate
drawings to get these projects constructed.
